Our Story and Mission
Our mission is to drive large-scale sustainability solutions and promote impact-oriented initiatives through innovation and partnerships.
Kepri provides B2B sustainability services and solutions to public and private sector clients looking to truly reduce their environmental and social footprints while contributing positively to the reversal of the climate and environmental crises we are currently witnessing.
Our mission is to drive large-scale sustainability solutions and promote impact-oriented initiatives through innovation and partnerships.
Kepri began its journey over 15 years ago in sustainable travel. Our founder, Karim Haggar, started the business in Canada with his childhood friend and initially offered B2C adventures to Canadians travelers. Over the years, the business evolved and pivoted to a B2B model focused on educational expeditions and impact projects partnering with pioneering educational institutions in North America.
The educational travel division was then carved out and the business refocused on B2B sustainability advisory and impact projects with private and public clients across sectors.
Kepri then moved its head office to Dubai, the business hub of the Middle East, and a city at the crossroads of the world; a bridge between East and West, and between the global North and the global South. Today, the Middle East is at the center of the global climate dialogues with COP27 and COP28 taking place in Egypt and the UAE respectively.
The Kepri name
01.
The Name
The name Kepri comes from the Ancient Egyptian scarab beetle god “Khepri”, the god of rebirth and sunrise. The scarab beetle inspired ancient Egyptians for centuries as it lays its eggs in animal dung balls that it then pushes along the ground. In the same way that the beetle kept pushing the dung balls containing its offspring, Khepri pushed the newly born sun across the skies.
02.
Scarab Beetle
The Scarab Beetle is also a symbol of endurance in harsh and arid environments. This amazing small beetle literally harvests water out of thin air. The beetle stands on its head until enough fog / mist condenses on its body letting droplets of water accumulate and drip down into its mouth.
03.
Kepri Symbolizes
Inspired by the small scarab beetle, Kepri today symbolizes hope, endurance, rebirth and the start of a new economy centered on sustainability and circularity.

Our multicultural team is scattered around the world and is composed of experts and practitioners in sustainability, strategy consulting, innovation management, sustainable travel, and impact investing.
Advised Strategy, Innovation & Sustainability Challenges
Karim advised public and private clients on their strategy, innovation and sustainability challenges in North America and the Middle East and worked for 7+ years with Strategy&/Booz & co (part of the PwC network) in both regions and helped set up the Strategy& offices in Canada.
Our Founder
Initially, Karim Haggar co-founded Kepri Projects in 2004 with his childhood friend in order to harness sustainable travel as a force to counter the environmental degradation of our only planet. The business operated both B2B and B2C expeditions in 30+ countries and focused mostly on educational travel through partnerships with educational institutions in North America. In 2014, Karim bought out his partner and decided to carve out the educational travel activities and to pivot and refocus the business around advisory and impact projects and travel for B2B customers. The business then moved its headquarters to Dubai, a more central location, at the crossroads of the world.
Strategy & Innovation Management
His curiosity and thirst for learning led him to complete a PhD in strategy and innovation management while working on one of Canada’s largest management research projects with research missions around the world and while teaching an entrepreneurship course at McGill University that he also designed.
An Avid Impact Investor
Karim is also an avid impact investor, part of an angel investment network, and focused on social enterprises and cleantech startups. He also mentors and supports young social and impact entrepreneurs through various accelerators, board memberships and pro bono engagements.
