Educational impact project - Senegal
Educational impact project - Senegal
This project took place between the city of Thiès, about 70km from Dakar, and the small town of Keur Moussa.
In collaboration with members of the Senegalese community in Montreal, and with a high school in Montreal, a partnership was built with an educational institution called CEP (Centre d’enseignement professionel); a vocational school in Thiès. Our group brought used IT equipment from Canada (computers, screens, etc.), organized IT workshops for the Senegalese students, painted one of the walls of the schools, and planted fruit trees around the schoolyard. The group stayed at the hospitable Monastery of Keur Moussa during the project.
After the 3-day project in Thiès and Keur Moussa our group explored Saint-Louis and the Lompoul desert, slept in traditional Mauritanian tents, went on a birdwatching trip at the Djoudj National Bird Sanctuary, and discovered Dakar.
