Sustainable Coffee Farming - Colombia
Sustainable Coffee Farming - Colombia
This project was conducted with one of the leading Northamerican coffee companies as part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)/sustainability and team building initiatives.
The goal was to reward top performing employees with a true cultural immersion into the world of sustainable coffee farming in the heart of Colombia while learning about sustainable farming techniques and developing partnerships with the local farmers.
The expedition took place primarily in the cultural coffee regions of Midwest Colombia including Caldas, Risaralda and Quindio. These incredible mountainous regions are home to centuries-old cultural coffee traditions that have recently been classified as UNESCO heritage sites.
Our group exchanged with the local communities by participating in their farming and production activities and by staying with the local families on their plantations.
The travelers also had the chance to discover the popular coffee museum located minutes from Pereira, as well as explore the incredible city of Cartagena and meet the indigenous communities of La Sierra.
