Crete Historic Trail Cleanup - Greece
Crete Historic Trail Cleanup - Greece
This project consisted of cleaning and reopening an old path between a ghost village on the island of Crete and a monastery nearby, a perfect little trail that hadn’t been used in over 25 years and was blocked by the ungroomed growth of the surrounding vegetation.
We planned and conducted the project in partnership with the owners of the Mourtzanakis Residence, a charming ecolodge on the hills of the traditional Achlada village in Crete with stunning views of the sea. The group of students worked hand-in-hand with the locals over three days and the trail was officially reopened at the end of the project. Today, this old trail attracts hundreds of hikers and ecotourists in the area.
